Seastar Kennel was founded more than twenty-five years ago, before Tollers were even recognized by the AKC, by Jane Folkman, whose vision, dedication, and unwavering love for the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever shaped the core of our program. Her commitment to excellence, both in the show ring and at home, earned Seastar its reputation as the “Home of Award Winning Tollers,” a standard that continues to guide us today.
In 2022, according to Jane’s wishes, we stepped forward to represent Seastar Kennel and carry her vision into the future. While Jane’s legacy remains the foundation of Seastar, the program now also reflects who we are: our values, our experience, and our deep respect for the breed we love.
Seastar remains a small, family-run kennel by design. We breed on a limited basis so we can stay focused on what matters most: temperament, breed type, sound structure, and long-term health, with every pairing carefully planned to produce Tollers who are as joyful and stable in daily life as they are competitive in performance and conformation.
Today, Seastar Kennel moves forward grounded in tradition, guided by experience, and driven by a genuine love for the breed. We are proud to serve as custodians of what Jane built, honoring her legacy while shaping a future that reflects our family, our values, and the Tollers who define us.
Thank you for visiting Seastar Kennel. We hope you enjoy exploring our site, and we always welcome your questions, your stories, and your shared love for this remarkable breed.
